UIndy campus showing Super Bowl spirit
Students, staff and faculty are getting into the Super Bowl mood this week as UIndy prepares to host the NFC champion New York Giants for their daily practice sessions.
On Monday, the dining room in Schwitzer Student Center was decked out in Giants red, blue and gray for a tailgate-themed lunch. Outside the dining room, students lined up to get commemorative buttons and schedules of related events around the city. Tonight’s dinner also will have a Big Game theme, with entertainment in the form of Madonna karaoke, honoring (or perhaps not) this year’s halftime performer.
Window signs welcoming the Giants have been distributed to offices and to the residence halls, which are conducting a door-decorating contest with a massive pizza party as top prize.
Also, a “Flat Indy” character — see here for details — has been designed for students to bring along on their Super Bowl adventures around the city, posting their photos to www.facebook.com/uindy.
Hospitality table
Although the Giants’ practice sessions will be under high security and not open for viewing, a welcome table will be set up in Schwitzer center to offer hospitality to any drop-in visitors. They’ll be able to enjoy some refreshments and pick up a souvenir before being sent on their way.
Transportation was arranged Saturday for a group of students to visit the NFL Experience and other attractions downtown. They posted this shot on Facebook.
