CAC seeks centenarians to celebrate
Indianapolis resident Earl Darden got a boost from UIndy’s Center for Aging & Community over the weekend, when he celebrated his 103rd birthday with a five-generation family gathering.
Darden is the first recipient of a special birthday gift pack that CAC is awarding to 10 Indiana centenarians this year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of its founding during the 2001-2002 academic year.
How does it feel to be 103? “It feels great,” Darden says. “I just wish the legs would move a little faster.”
CAC is still accepting nominations for nine more centenarians around the state to receive the gift pack, which includes a card, a disposable camera, a small gift and a check for $100 to help fund the honoree’s personal birthday celebration.
Nomination forms and further details are available from CAC communications manager Amy Magan at amagan@uindy.edu.
