5K run/walk to support mental health work
An April 14 run/walk organized by UIndy students will support mental health causes in the community.
The second annual Stomp Out Stigma 5K Run/Walk will begin at 1 p.m. on Smith Mall. The event is hosted by the UIndy student chapter of Active Minds, a group that works to eliminate the social stigma surrounding mental illness and mental health treatment.
The cost to participate is $20, which includes a commemorative T-shirt. Half the proceeds will be donated to Prevail Inc. a not-for-profit mental health center and support program that provides free services to victims of crime and abuse in central Indiana.
Participants may register in person beginning at noon April 14, or in advance at the running website www.active.com. More information about the student group is available on its Facebook page, “Active Minds, UIndy Chapter.”
