Senator sports Greyhound jersey for game

Donnelly jerseyUIndy was well represented last week in Washington, D.C., when members of the U.S. Congress took the field for the annual Congressional Baseball Game, a good-natured partisan battle with proceeds supporting worthy causes.

The players typically wear jerseys representing college teams from their home states. Indiana’s newest senator, Joe Donnelly, opted for a University of Indianapolis jersey, which the Department of Athletics was happy to provide. The photo above was posted to his Facebook page.

Donnelly came out a winner Thursday at Nationals Park, as the Democrats trounced the Republicans 22-0. The game, part of a tradition that dates to 1909, raised $300,000 for the Washington Literacy Center, the Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington and the Nationals Dream Foundation.
