Piano concert to benefit lung association

Associate Professor of Music Rebecca Sorley and her daughter Allegra Sorley, a recent graduate of Roosevelt University’s Chicago College of Performing Arts, will present another of their periodic piano benefit concerts on Sunday, this time to raise funds for the American Lung Association.

The program will include solo and duet selections from composers including Samuel Barber, Amy Beach and Scott Joplin. The performance begins at 3 p.m. Sunday in the Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center’s Ruth Lilly Performance Hall. Admission is free, but donations are encouraged.

The concert was inspired by a friend’s recent death from causes related to secondhand smoke.

Dr. Sorley is director of UIndy’s Community Music Center and also serves as organist for St. John’s United Church of Christ. For more information, contact her at (317) 788-3400 or rsorley@uindy.edu.
