In the news: IR prof on Syria; faculty concert



Associate Professor of International Relations Milind Thakar is a key source for a story from the Epoch Times international news service about possible U.S. intervention in Syria.

Although Americans are understandably weary of war after years of involvement in Iraq and Afghanistan, he said, the actions of the Assad regime call for a significant response from the United States and its allies.

“The international community’s failure to censure a barbaric regime will set a bad precedent,” Dr. Thakar said.

Monday night’s gala opening of the UIndy Faculty Artist Concert Series earned a rave four-star review from NUVO weekly.

Writer Chantal Incandela offered particular praise for artist-in-residence Raymond Leppard, the conductor, as well as faculty soloists Pamela French, oboe, and Austin Hartman, violin.

“If this concert is an indication of the rest of the season, then it looks to be an excellent one,” she wrote.
