Softball, men’s tennis win conference titles
The UIndy men’s tennis team had a big weekend, winning the Great Lakes Valley Conference Championship for the first time since 1995 and the 10th time in program history.
The No. 21 Greyhounds swept Missouri-St. Louis in the semifinals and went on to beat University of Southern Indiana 5-2 in the Sunday finals. In Friday’s first round, senior Luke Hubert posted his 81st singles win, setting a new UIndy record.
The 17-2 squad will learn its NCAA Tournament seeding Tuesday during the D-II selection show, viewable at 8 p.m. at NCAA.com. Read more about the men’s tennis team here.
The 2nd-ranked softball team claimed its second-ever GLVC title over the weekend, downing three-time reigning champs Missouri-St. Louis 7-1. Pitcher Morgan Foley continued her stellar senior season, winning all four games, throwing her fifth no-hitter of the year and breaking her own UIndy record for strikeouts in a season.
Prior to the tournament, Foley was named GLVC Pitcher of the Year, and head coach Melissa Frost received her fifth career GLVC Coach of the Year honor.
The 50-3 Greyhounds are seeded No. 1 in the Midwest Region and will host the first of two Midwest Regionals this Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Read more about the softball team here.
