We have always been a country of immigrants and that story continues to unfold. This is your opportunity to hear the stories of fellow students and alumni who are caught up in the struggle surrounding the Deferred Action on Child Arrivals (DACA).
Finding our Place in the Story of Immigration: 5:30 p.m in Schwitzer Student Center, Shreve Atrium
Participate in the creation of a U.S. Immigration Timeline, placing current events in historical context as part of the longer saga of immigration experiences in our country’s development.
Engaging DACA: Hearing the Voices of the Dreamers: 7:00 p.m. in Schwitzer Student Center, McCleary Chapel
Isaias Guerrero Cabrera ’08 and Guadalupe Pimentel will reveal diverse stories of immigrants who share a common plight due to the expiration of DACA regulations. Listen and ask questions to gain a better understanding of how pending legislation is affecting thousands of college students around the nation, including many right here at UIndy. A brief reception will follow at 8:30 p.m.
