Call for honorary degree nominations

University of Indianapolis seal

Each year the University offers honorary degrees as part of our commencement ceremonies.  An honorary degree is one of the highest honors bestowed by the University and it is reserved for those who have distinguished themselves as scholars or artists or have extraordinary service to the University or our larger society.

I would like to provide an opportunity for faculty and staff to nominate candidates for honorary degrees. If you would like to nominate someone for consideration, please submit a name and short biography to Angie Presnell at by October 15.

Candidates will be reviewed by the nominating committee, and then submitted for approval to the Faculty Senate and the Board of Trustees.  An announcement concerning those selected to receive an honorary degree at Commencement in 2019 will occur during the spring semester.

I look forward to receiving your nominations.
