Katie Boucher co-authors article on ‘Student Belonging’

Dr. Kathryn Boucher, assistant professor in the College of Applied Behavioral Sciences, recently co-authored an article for Greater Good Magazine, “How to Help Students Feel a Sense of Belonging During the Pandemic.”

The group of co-authors explored why a sense of belonging is important for students to feel—a more engaged community, in short— and what the pitfalls are when the reverse is true, and why this is especially important with regards to students who are members of marginalized communities.

The pandemic, of course, has heightened these issues, and the article lays out several strategies educators can use to ensure that their students feel engaged and part of the community, even during this trying time.
