Congratulations to UIndy graduate student Cameron Simmons ‘25 (MA Mental Health Counseling), who has been selected as an Indiana Counseling Association (ICA) 2024-2025 Emerging Leader.

ICA Emerging Leaders participate in board meetings, serve ICA through a committee, task force, or other projects, and receive mentorship throughout their time in the program. They gain leadership experience as well as other diverse and valuable opportunities to aid in the development of their careers.

“We are incredibly proud of Cameron’s award as an Emerging Leader,” praised Michelle Itczak, Assistant Professor and Director of Counseling at the UIndy College of Education and Behavioral Sciences, “The profession of Mental Health Counseling is directly tied to the mission of the University. The services that our students provide through internships impact numerous underrepresented populations and the community as a whole.”

Cameron will begin his counseling internship this fall and gain valuable, hands-on experience while helping improve the mental health of those in the community.
