UIndy Music Faculty Receive Indiana Music Educators Association Awards

By Ella Shelburn

Two adjunct faculty members from the Department of Music, Diane Stebbe and Joyce Click, received awards from the Indiana Music Education Association.

Stebbe was named the Multi-level IMEA Music Educator of Excellence. This award recognizes music educators who have excelled throughout years of teaching and have contributed to the career of music education as a whole.

“It was an unexpected honor to receive the Multi-level Music Educator of Excellence Award!” said Stebbe. “My enduring excitement about teaching is a result of keeping my performing skills active so that my performing life and teaching life can exist and each enhances the other.”

Click received the IMEA Community Impact Award, which goes to music educators who have gone above and beyond to support musicians and music education in their community.

“Music education has enriched my life and has changed the lives of students that I have taught,” said Click. “I am hoping that by receiving this award, I am setting an example for others; the pursuit of music education is a lifelong endeavor, and that music is an art form that bridges generations.”
