University of Indianapolis chooses the inaugural class of Stephen F. Fry Business Scholars

Fry Scholars inaugural class

The University of Indianapolis is proud to announce the inaugural class of four students into the Stephen F. Fry Business Scholars Program, the premier undergraduate immersive experience in UIndy’s School of Business. The program, which offers up to $20,000 of tuition assistance, was made possible with a $5 million endowed gift from alumnus and retired Lilly executive Stephen F. Fry last year.

The inaugural class of scholars is made up of graduating seniors Davis Arthur, of Greenwood (Greenwood Community High School), Carson Bowling, of Seymour (Trinity Lutheran High School), Nevan Tutterow, of Indianapolis (Franklin Central High School), and Samantha Webb, of Greenwood (Center Grove High School).

“I am very impressed with the academic strength and business acumen of these first four Stephen F. Fry Scholars,” said Carissa Newton, director of the Stephen F. Fry Scholars Program. “They certainly set the bar high for all future classes. I am excited to see how this program helps transform them into the next generation of business leaders.”

The Stephen F. Fry Business Scholars Program provides an exceptional curricular and co-curricular experience. The program focuses on mentorship and engagement in the business community. Students will connect with both businesses and nonprofits for various projects and learning throughout their undergraduate studies. In addition, the program provides funding to participate in national conferences, experiential learning, internships and other immersive experiences, with mentorship available from alumni and other community leaders.

Arthur, Bowling, Tutterow and Webb were chosen from a group of students competing in the annual Case Competition hosted by the School of Business in February. The winners were selected based on meeting scholarship criteria, their results in the competition as well as an in-depth interview process.

The program awards a $5,000 scholarship to each student to be used on tuition and is renewable annually for four years for a total of $20,000. There will be an average of 4-6 students with each cohort year after this inaugural class.
