University of Indianapolis named a ‘2025 Great College to Work For’
The University of Indianapolis is one of the best colleges in the nation to work for, according to the Great Colleges to Work For program.
The results, released today in a special insert of the Chronicle of Higher Education, are based on a survey of 199 colleges and universities. In all, 76 of those institutions achieved “Great College to Work For” recognition for specific best practices and policies. Results are reported for small, medium and large institutions, with the University of Indianapolis included among the medium universities with 3,000 to 9,999 students.
The University of Indianapolis won honors in five categories this year:
- Confidence in Senior Leadership
- Faculty & Staff Well-being
- Professional Development
- Shared Governance
- Supervisor/Department Chair Effectiveness
UIndy was also named to the Great Colleges Honor Roll, a status granted to only 42 colleges this year who were highlighted the most across the 10 recognition categories.
“It is truly an honor for the University of Indianapolis to be recognized as one of the best institutions of higher education to work for,” said UIndy President Tanuja Singh. “The recognition is a reflection of the dedication, collaboration and passion of our faculty and staff who make UIndy a vibrant community committed to student success. Being named on the Honor Roll affirms what we already know—the University of Indianapolis is a special place to work and to thrive.”
The survey results are based on a two-part assessment process: an institutional questionnaire that captures employment data and workplace policies from each institution and a survey administered to faculty, administrators and professional support staff. The primary factor in deciding whether an institution received recognition was the employee feedback.
“With years of experience studying workplace culture in academia, our data consistently shows that how institutions treat their faculty and staff directly impacts the ability to thrive—both as organizations and communities,” said Richard K. Boyer, Chief Culture Strategist at ModernThink, the firm which administered the survey and analyzed the results. “When trust and support are present, institutions unlock the creativity, dedication and resilience essential to navigating today’s challenges in higher education. Great workplaces do not happen by accident—they are the result of intentional choices and courageous leadership.”
