WISH-TV: Indianapolis author uses poetry to raise epilepsy awareness
As part of National Epilepsy Awareness Month, Liz Whiteacre, associate professor of English and department chair, discussed her publishing of a 15-poem collection titled “it could account for the panic” to draw attention to temporal lobe epilepsy or TLE on WISH-TV. The poems were originally written as lyrics in collaboration with composer and UIndy adjunct professor Meadow Bridgham, who lives with TLE. Together they also collaborated for a faculty artist concert series in the spring. Whiteacre shared how she hopes the book will deepen empathy and understanding of what life with the disorder truly feels like.
