Fairbanks Symposium WISH-TV

The 11th Annual Richard M. Fairbanks Symposium will take place at the University of Indianapolis’ Schwitzer Student Center under the theme of “Civility and Civic Leadership in the Circle City” to bring community leaders together to examine how civil dialogue can strengthen Indianapolis. WISH-TV Daybreak interviewed Edward Frantz, chair of the history department and director of the Institute for Civic Leadership & Mayoral Archives at UIndy, who emphasized the role universities play in fostering community conversation, public engagement and thoughtful leadership as well as Alexandra O. Hudson, author of “The Soul of Civility: Timeless Principles to Heal Society and Ourselves” who is one of this year’s keynote panelists. The story highlights how University of Indianapolis expertise in civic leadership and community partnership contributes to broader efforts to encourage civil discourse and collaborative problem solving.
