Dr. Krista Latham Named as 2026 Woman of Influence Honoree

Dr. Krista Latham, professor of biology and anthropology as well as the director of the Human Identification Center, has been named as one of the 2026 Women of Influence honorees, recognition of her place among Central Indiana’s most influential female leaders.

Latham was recognized for her place as Indiana’s first female forensic anthropologist as well as its only board-certified forensic anthropologist by the American Board of Forensic Anthropology. Through her position with the Human Identification Center, she works with law enforcement agencies and county coroners on more than 100 cases a year—with the entire team putting in at least 5,000 hours of volunteer work annually. Latham is also the founder of the Beyond Borders Humanitarian Forensic Science Team which makes annual trips to the U.S.-Mexico border to help with recovery and identification efforts for migrants who died while traveling.

The Women of Influence awards program is conducted by IBJ Media, the locally owned publisher of Indianapolis Business Journal, Inside INdiana Business and The Indiana Lawyer. This year’s Women of Influence honors 26 women from the public and private sectors, as selected by a panel of IBJ Media executives, editors and former honorees. In addition, the panel bestows a Career Achievement Award and a Mentorship Award on two Women of Influence alumni.

IBJ Media will recognize this year’s Women of Influence at a breakfast event Oct. 22 at the Indiana Roof Ballroom (140 W. Washington St., Indianapolis). Networking begins at 7:30 a.m., with the program starting at 8 a.m. Profiles of each honoree will also be featured in a special publication inside the Oct. 23 issue of IBJ and online at IBJ.com.

UIndy President Dr. Tanuja Singh was named as a 2024 Woman of Influence.
