University of Indianapolis Alumni Association Welcomes New Board Members
The University of Indianapolis Alumni Association welcomed five new members to its Board of Directors in June. The new members will serve a three-year term, joining fellow alumni in supporting the University and strengthening connections among the more than 40,000 UIndy alumni worldwide.
The UIndy Alumni Association Board of Directors provides leadership for the Alumni Association by representing the interests and needs of fellow alumni. Board members help develop and implement initiatives that build the alumni network, advance the University, and create meaningful opportunities for alumni to give back through their time, talent, and connections.
Denise Wuchner ’06 ’11 currently serves as president of the Alumni Board.
“Serving on the Alumni Board offers a powerful opportunity to give back to the community that shaped our personal and professional trajectories,” said Wuchner. “While board leadership helps guide our collective vision, the true strength of the University of Indianapolis lies in the active engagement of our broader alumni community. Bringing new members onto the board is essential, fresh leadership infuses our work with innovative ideas, diverse perspectives, and the vital energy needed to keep our strategy responsive to an evolving campus. For alumni, ongoing engagement actively elevates the reputation and prestige of a UIndy degree. When our network stays active, the value of every graduate’s credential grows stronger. “
The new board members are:
Rob Carrasco ’09 ’14 (Strategic Leadership & Design, MS in Organizational Leadership)
Carrasco took a nontraditional path to higher education, transitioning from a career as a radio personality and DJ into corporate training and healthcare before earning his bachelor’s degree in 2009 and master’s degree in 2014 through UIndy’s Adult Learning Program. Now a program management professional with nearly three decades of experience in learning and development, training and technology adoption, he is returning to UIndy as a Student Success Counselor supporting students in online degree programs.
“It feels like a full-circle moment to return to the institution that helped transform my own career and now help others achieve their educational goals,” said Carrasco. “I’m honored to serve on the Alumni Board and look forward to finding meaningful ways to give back to the university that invested so much in me.”
Harry Dickson ’16 (Political Science)
Dickson earned his bachelor’s degree in political science from UIndy in 2016 and has remained connected to the University through speaking engagements and recruiting interns through the Department of Political Science. A first-generation college graduate and the first member of his family to earn a master’s degree, he brings his professional experience and continued connection to UIndy to his service on the Alumni Board.
“I look forward to giving back to UIndy and helping create opportunities for current and future Greyhounds,” said Dickson.
Kamellah Fluker ’08 (Political Science)
Fluker earned her bachelor’s degree in political science and was involved with UIndy’s International Relations Club and an internship with the University’s social work office, an experience that influenced her decision to become a licensed clinical social worker.
“My experiences at UIndy, including my internship with the social work office, helped shape the path I ultimately took as a social worker,” said Fluker. “I’m excited to give back to the University and be part of its alumni community.”
Dr. Michael Lea ’16 (Exercise Science)
Dr. Lea earned his bachelor’s degree in exercise science from UIndy and remained actively involved as a student, serving as a resident assistant, participating in campus events and serving on the Inauguration Committee for past President Rob Manuel. He opened his Indianapolis practice in 2022, where he specializes in non-invasive spine and joint treatments.
“I’m happy to serve on the Alumni Board and give back to UIndy because of how much the University gave me during my time as a student,” said Dr. Lea.
Berkley Ramsey ’20 (MA in International Relations)
Ramsey earned his master’s degree in international relations and foreign affairs from UIndy in 2020 after earning a bachelor’s degree in political science from Indiana University. He credits UIndy’s close-knit community and small-classroom environment with helping him build lasting relationships and strengthen his professional and academic skills.
“UIndy is a tight-knit community, and I’m looking forward to advocating for that community and helping share the benefits of the University with future generations of Greyhounds,” said Ramsey.
