UIndy Faculty, Staff Provide Expert Insight to Local National Media in December
As part of their commitment to “education for service,” faculty and staff at the University of Indianapolis share their expertise with local and national news outlets in order to keep our community informed and to introduce new perspectives on current issues.
UIndy faculty and staff were featured in the following news stories in December:
Dr. Amanda Miller, chair of the Department of Sociology, was a featured expert on WalletHub on the topic of financial secrets and relationships.
Richard Floyd, adjunct faculty in the Department of Music, is the co-founder of INSPIRE Music Collective, which aims to create generational change in Indiana music by supporting musicians and other creative artists, opened its doors on South Meridian Street. Floyd was interviewed about INSPIRE and his passion for mentoring the next generation in NUVO Magazine.
School of Education Dean John Kuykendall was quoted on WISH-TV as part of the station’s coverage following Lilly Endowment’s $750,000 grant to UIndy to support the Science of Reading method. The grant, which awarded more than $21.5 million to 28 Hoosier colleges and universities overall, was mentioned by the Indianapolis Business Journal among others. Dr. Kuykendall was also featured by Inside Indiana Business as UIndy launched its campaign to attract more teachers.
Dr. Laura Merrifield Wilson, professor of political science, explained why most of Indiana’s laws do not go into effect on Jan. 1 on FOX59, as well as WANE-TV, and others. Wilson provided her expertise to WIBC in the wake of former president Donald Trump being disqualified from Colorado’s election ballot. She discussed the reasons why incumbents in politics have such an advantage in Statehouse races in an interview with WFYI.
Dr. Matt Will, associate professor of finance, was a featured expert for the Indiana Capital Chronicle to provide several reasons there is an ongoing labor shortage in many different industries across Indiana and the United States, even though there’s a growing population.
Dr. Greg Shufeldt, associate professor of political science, was interviewed by the Indianapolis Business Journal as the city’s new city-county counselors were sworn in.
