WRTV: How AI is taught in classroom, affects the way we consume news
WRTV examined how artificial intelligence is being taught in classrooms and how that instruction is shaping the way students consume and evaluate news in an increasingly AI-driven media environment. The segment featured Rick Dunkle, University of Indianapolis professor of communication, director of the Media Track program and general manager of UINDY TV and WICR, who incorporates artificial intelligence discussions and tools into his courses to help students think critically about responsible use, credibility and misinformation. Students described learning how to distinguish AI-generated content from human reporting while experimenting with appropriate applications of the technology in academic work. The story highlights how University of Indianapolis expertise in media literacy, journalism and experiential learning supports broader efforts to prepare students to navigate artificial intelligence and digital news responsibly.
