UIndy rises again in U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings
The University of Indianapolis continued its upward momentum in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings released today, posting significant gains across key categories and reinforcing the University’s growing national reputation for academic excellence, student accessibility and career success.
UIndy climbed 66 spots to No. 171 in Top Performers on Social Mobility, reflecting the University’s commitment to expanding opportunity for students no matter their background. The ranking measures how well colleges and universities enroll and graduate students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.
The University of Indianapolis also saw major gains in academic programs in the 2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings. The Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at UIndy jumped 83 spots for the second consecutive year to No. 135. It is tied as the highest-ranked nursing program among Indiana’s private universities.
“This year’s ranking reflects the strength of our faculty and staff and the quality of education we provide,” said Dr. Brent Arnold, dean of the College of Health Sciences. “Our efforts are focused on preparing highly skilled nurses who have the knowledge, clinical experience and confidence to go right to work after graduation. To see the UIndy School of Nursing gain this kind of national recognition for a second straight year is something we can all be proud of.”
The undergraduate engineering program ranked No. 163. The program graduated its first cohort in 2020 and achieved full accreditation from the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET in 2025.
“Thanks to our innovative DesignSpine curriculum, our program is uniquely designed for today’s students and the real world of engineering,” said Dr. Ken Reid, associate dean and director of the R.B. Annis School of Engineering. “Students work on real projects, solve real problems and learn to collaborate with others across disciplines beginning their very first week on campus. That hands-on experience and faculty mentorship give our students the ability to thrive after they graduate.”
UIndy placed No. 137 in the Top Private National University ranking, an indication of its strong overall standing among private institutions across the country.
“The continued rise of the University of Indianapolis reflects the strength of our people as well as the clarity of our mission,” said UIndy President Dr. Tanuja Singh. “In everything we do, we are relentlessly focused on academic excellence that is accessible to all and preparing our students to thrive in a rapidly changing world. These rankings are one more indication that our approach is making a meaningful difference for our students and the communities they will go on to serve.”
