UIndy senior Morgan Foley earned yet another spot in the NCAA record books Saturday when she struck out 21 batters to lead the Greyhound softball team to a 2-0 win over Hillsdale College at the Music City Invitational in Nashville.
As noted by observers including ESPN, 21 strikeouts in seven innings is about as good as it gets, a new Division II record and one of only four such instances in NCAA softball history. Foley, a Communication major from Louisville, also holds the NCAA all-division record for total strikeouts in a game: 30.
Now 7-0, the Hounds swept the Great Lakes Valley Conference awards this week, with Foley named Pitcher of the Week and teammate Natalie Lalich of Greenwood named Player of the Week after hitting four home runs during the weekend tournament.
