Summer construction project update
Summer is a time on the University of Indianapolis campus to focus on construction projects and rejuvenate several facilities in preparation for the 2017 academic year. Summer 2017 projects in process or planned include:
Martin Hall Project Phase 1: Renovations are underway in Martin Hall related to the new R.B. Annis School of Engineering. Updates are being made both to the first and second floors, with a new entryway being installed on the west side of the building, directly south of the west entrance, to allow for large equipment to be installed. Estimated completion date: August 2017.
Esch Underground Water Leak: The underground water issue at Esch Hall has been resolved, and the project is complete except for grading and landscaping work. Estimated completion date: July 2017.
Good Hall Porch Removal: The project to remove the west-facing porch and columns will begin the week of June 26 and the area affected will be barricaded. No road closures will occur.Expected completion date: July 2017. Restoration of the porch is scheduled for Summer 2018.
Esch Masonry Repair: Repairs are underway to address the deteriorating brick façade on the north and south side of Ransburg Auditorium. The project began this week. Expected completion date: July 2017.
East Hall Exterior Siding Repair– Repairs began this week on East Hall to address some weather damage to the façade.Expected completion: August 2017.
Esch Restroom countertop replacement: The installation of new countertops on the first and second floor restrooms will beginJuly 16. These restrooms will be closed during the work.Expected completion: August 2017.
Schwitzer Entry Door Replacement– Beginning on July 5, crews will begin replacing the entry doors to Schwitzer Student Center on the west entrance (closest to Smith Mall). These doors will only be used as an emergency exit during the work.Expected completion: July 14, 2017.
Esch Hall, Schwitzer Student Center, Alumni House Roof Replacement: Roof replacement projects on the three properties will begin the week of July 5. Expected completion: mid-August 2017.
Nicoson Hall Door and Window Replacement: Energy efficient doors and windows will be replaced in Nicoson Hall beginning the week of July 5. Nicoson will be open during this remodeling. Estimated completion: August 2017.
RLFC concrete entrance steps and paver circle: Repair work to the entrance of the Ruth Lilly Fitness Center will begin the week of June 19. The main doors of RLFC along Campus Drive will remain open during the project. Expected completion: July 2017.
Asphalt repairs: Several asphalt repair projects will begin the week of June 19. Expected completion date June 30, 2017. Sites include:
- Campus Drive, north of Martin Hall (no closures)
- Entrance of Lot 6 (Martin parking lot (no closures)
- West of Cory Bretz (no closures)
- Lots 20, 21 (south of Roberts and Warren): A start date for this project has not been established, although the area will be marked and barricaded prior to the project beginning. The lots will be closed and cars will need to be relocated. Announcements will be distributed before the project begins.
Central Hall carpet replacement: The installation of new carpet is scheduled to begin the week of June 28. Expected completion: July 2017.
