Mapathon for Puerto Rico hurricane relief: Nov. 1

Nov. 1, 2017
3-5 p.m.
KLM Instructional lab (KML208)

Contribute your time and join relief efforts on the ground in Puerto Rico by participating in open-source mapping.

Following the recent hurricane, people around the world are using the OpenStreetMap platform to donate their time to hurricane relief efforts. The Red Cross in Puerto Rico has requested help with their relief efforts, universities and institutions of higher education (through libraries and other departments) are responding. Let’s do respond as UIndy and help Puerto Rico even if we can not be there or contribute money.

During the mapathon, faculty and staff will teach participants how to help with these efforts through some easy-to-learn mapping tasks in a web-based application.

Just come prepared to help and share on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 3-5 p.m. KML208 (If you feel more comfortable, you can bring your laptop).

No mapping experience, knowledge of local geography, or software installation is required. Snacks provided.
