HRPP Office introducing new application forms in August
Dear Colleagues:
This is an *IMPORTANT* reminder that the Human Research Protections Program (HRPP) Office will *NOT* be accepting any new applications through “IRB Manager” from August 1st through August 19th. As of August 20th, we will have a *NEW* application form and informed consent template that will be used for all HRPP applications (exempt, expedited, full board). The new application will be significantly changed from the old one, including the requirement of a brief research proposal. The questions in the new form will focus only on issues related to human subjects protection and not study background, design, and methods. These changes are being implemented to meet the new federal guidelines (revised Common Rule) and to streamline the process for researchers.
Any applications that have not been progressed into active review by August 1st will be deleted from IRB manager and will need to be submitted again once IRB Manager reopens on August 20th. This means that if you or a student are in the midst of creating a new study application, you should complete it ASAP so your department signatory can sign off on and we can move it into active status in IRB Manager. If you are not able to get your application completed before August 1, we strongly encourage you to save a PDF copy of your current application so that when IRB Manager reopens you can cut and paste into the new format.
The HRPP team (Erin Fekete and Elizabeth Moore) will offer several sessions entitled ” Introduction to the New and Improved UIndy HRPP/IRB” to assist with the transition. We hope you will make every effort to attend one of these sessions—you will be glad you did!
August 29th from noon to 1 in the Health Pavilion–2nd floor knuckle (hosted by CAC)
September 17th from noon to 1 in KML 220–hosted by FLDS
September 18th from noon to 1 in the Health Pavilion–Room 202
More details about these sessions will be coming out closer to the time. Let me know if there are any questions or concerns about this exciting transition!
