Kathleen Koval, 1940-2018
It is with heavy hearts that we share with you the news that Kathleen Koval passed away on Saturday, November 10, 2018.
Dr. Koval was a faculty member of the University of Indianapolis School of Nursing from 1987 until her retirement in 2010. During that time, her impact on students and the community was tremendous, and that legacy remains vibrant to this day. In 1996, the University opened the Koval Center, an on-campus clinic that provided services such as immunizations and health screenings to UIndy employees. Dr. Koval was instrumental in the development of the center, which also continues to play an important role in training nursing students through real clinical experiences. Now located in the Health Pavilion, the center functions as a multi-purpose general health clinic, providing a wide range of healthcare services to students, as well as University faculty, staff and their families. This and other University programs are thanks in large part to the efforts and vision of Dr. Koval.
A Memorial Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, December 6 at the Northside Knights of Columbus; 2100 East 71st Street, Indianapolis, Indiana 46220. Memorial contributions may be made to the School of Nursing LeAlice Briggs Scholarship Fund. You can find more information here.
Please keep Kathleen’s family in your thoughts and prayers.
