Pack the House expands the fun for 2019
Just in time to beat the winter blues, Pack the House 2019 brings energy and excitement to Nicoson Hall on Feb. 9 for a double-dose of hoops and fun. Women’s tip-off is at 5 p.m. and the men’s team tips off at 7:30 p.m. as the Greyhounds take on the Bellarmine University Knights for a back-to-back rival showdown. With the introduction of new events like the Hound Pound Pre-Party and an after-party at Books & Brews, Pack the House 2019 offers something for students, alumni, faculty, staff and the local community.
Entry is free for University of Indianapolis students, faculty, staff and children under 12. Tickets cost $10 for fans 12+ and $5 for 65+ and veterans. Back again for 2019 is the highly popular (and limited) courtside seating. For only $5 more this is a perfect spot to cheer the Greyhounds to victory. Reserve your spot before they’re gone!
New this year is the Hound Pound Pre-Party. Fans are encouraged to come early for delicious snacks, a cash bar for those over 21, music, games, caricature artists, inflatables and more from 3 to 5 p.m. in Ruth Lilly Fitness Center. All ages are welcome. Current UIndy students will have the chance to win tickets to an upcoming Pacer’s game, UIndy swag and other great prizes. The first 200 students at the Hound Pound Pre-Party will receive a free T-shirt for the games. UIndy students on meal plans can swipe their cards at the concession stand in Nicoson Hall for additional offerings including BBQ pork, chili cheese dogs and popcorn.
“Pack the House is our largest winter event, drawing back hundreds of alumni who join our students, faculty, and staff in cheering our Greyhound basketball teams to victory,” said Andy Kocher, assistant vice president of alumni engagement. “Pack the House is simply a must attend event for all Greyhounds!”
Another expansion of Pack the House 2019 is focused on emphasizing UIndy’s strong ties with the southside community. The University has partnered with Garfield Park Peewee Basketball to provide halftime entertainment – much to the delight of parents and other fans alike.
A post-game celebration at UIndy’s newest neighbor, Books & Brews at 3808 Shelby St., marks another expansion of Pack the House. The band Union Suit Rally, featuring UIndy’s Matt Wilson ’99 (senior director of network, security and systems) and Chris Cunningham ’08, will perform. The first 50 faculty and staff members will get a free drink if they show a photo they posted to social media of the games and their UIndy ID.
