Dr. Heidi Hancher-Rauch and Dr. Ange Spells, director and faculty, respectively, of public health in the Department of Kinesiology, Health & Sport Sciences recently co-authored an article in Health Promotion Practice. “Health Educator Perspectives on Seeking Medicaid Reimbursement in Indiana” discusses results of a study that surveyed health educators (HE) in Indiana to assess knowledge, attitudes, and perceived abilities to bill Medicaid and other insurers for HE services. Hancher-Rauch and Spells concluded that, with recent reimbursement opportunities for HE and preventative health services, it is important that health educator specialists advocate for the profession and for potential reimbursement opportunities, such as Medicaid, to enhance the field and support health educator specialist jobs.
