Storyteller Kevin Kling comes to UIndy Nov. 19

With the professional title of “storyteller,” Kevin Kling brings a variety of material to his
audiences—humor, inspiration, and insight of the human experience. Kling will be speaking as
part of the Penrod Lecture series on Tuesday, November 19 from 12:00-1:00 p.m. in Schwitzer
Student Center, UIndy Hall.

From birth, Kling had limited use of his left arm, and later in life he was in a motorcycle crash
which resulted in complete inability to use his right arm. Through overcoming obstacles that
came with these challenges, he came to understand the importance of connecting through
others and gaining appreciation for their narratives.

Krista Tippett, of American Public Media, wrote “Kevin Kling is part funny guy, part poet and
playwright, part wise man. A treasured figure on the national storytelling circuit, his voice
inhabits an unusual space where a homegrown Minnesota wit meets Dante and Shakespeare.”
All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to attend. In this season of gratitude, Kling will
leave people with smiles, gratitude and a better understanding of the human condition.
