UIndy Interprofessional Education Days 2020
Interprofessional Education Days are a deep-dive collaboration between the College of Health Sciences, the School of Nursing, the Center for Aging and Community, and the College of Applied Behavioral Sciences. They highlight current relevant hot topics in healthcare, break down the silos between professions, and give students practical experience working as part of a care team.
Interprofessional Days at UIndy continue the focus on integrated healthcare within the curriculum. Integrated healthcare is characterized by a high degree of collaboration and communication among health professionals. What makes integrated healthcare unique is the sharing of information among team members related to patient care and the establishment of a comprehensive treatment plan to address the biological, psychological and social needs of the patient.
Taking place Feb. 17-18, 2020 in the UIndy Health Pavilion, attendees will be asked to think outside their expertise and use a collaborative, team approach to providing care. They’ll consider the patient’s needs holistically and determine the best comprehensive treatment plan, addressing health, welfare, and social needs in an interprofessional approach to addictive behaviors.
