Lauren Padesky presents research at Literacy Research Association
Dr. Lauren Breckenridge Padesky, assistant professor of early literacy for the School of Education, presented two peer-reviewed research projects at the Literacy Research Association annual conference in December 2020. The first presentation featured Dr. Padesky’s individual research on the social and pedagogical implications of teacher-child talk during program-based literacy instruction in a 1st-grade classroom of dual-language learners.
The second presentation was a co-authored project detailing ongoing literacy professional development research, focusing on strategies for facilitating teacher agency in professional learning. The latter project received the LRA Area Chair Award for Inservice Teacher Education/Professional Development in Literacy. Dr. Padesky is working with Dr. Dana Robertson (University of Wyoming) on a book chapter for an edited volume, contracted through Guilford Press, on this professional development research.
