Lori Love 1967 – 2021

It is with great sadness that I share with you the passing of Lori Love, Assistant Director for Graduate and Online Programs. Since joining the University of Indianapolis in 2008, Lori worked tirelessly in the Office of Financial Aid to connect students with the financial assistance they needed to complete their education. Thanks to her efforts, Lori helped countless students stay in school and fulfill their dreams.

Lori’s colleagues describe her as one of the most caring, professional people they have ever met. She brought deep expertise and understanding to her work in financial aid, with the goal of helping students better their lives. She will be sorely missed by so many across our campus who relied upon her advice and her knowledge of the world of financial aid. From faculty to staff to students, everyone who interacted with Lori held her in the highest esteem as a person and as a professional.

“Lori’s passion and enthusiasm for life were on full display each day,” said Sunni Manges, Associate Vice President for Retention Strategy. “She always had a smile on her face and an encouraging word for everyone she crossed paths with. She was a fiercely dedicated mom to her children, Josh and Gracie, and beamed with pride every time she talked of them. Lori was truly one of a kind and was never at a loss for words! She will be sorely missed and will forever hold a special place in our hearts.”

Lori passed away after a long illness, during which time she fought valiantly. She remained dedicated to her work despite her health challenges and continued to embrace her mission.

“She never let her illness define her. Even when she was challenged physically, her sole focus was students and colleagues,” recalled Nathan Lohr, Director of Financial Aid. “She always cared about every person she met as an individual, and she let them know that she valued them as a person. Even in the midst of the challenges she had, she wanted to make sure people were taken care of.”

The University extends our heartfelt condolences to Lori’s family and friends during this difficult time. Any student, faculty, or staff in need of support should contact the Student Counseling Center at (317)788-5015 or by email at studentcounseling@uindy.edu.
