Last month, Taylor Vachon ‘23 ‘25 (History, Political Science, International Relations, and MBA) had her Honors thesis accepted for publication in the Butler Journal of Undergraduate Research, a peer-reviewed platform highlighting the research of graduate students from any university.

Vachon’s Honors Project, titled “Effects of Political Ideology on Perceptions of Group Ideology,” is based on survey data showing how people tend to assume political views based on stereotypes and how this contributes to the political division today in the United States.

“I hope readers of my research pause to reflect on how their assumptions might shape political discussions, paving the way for more meaningful dialogue across political divides,” said Vachon.

Vachon is excited that her thesis is being published and is grateful for the support of the UIndy faculty and staff throughout this process.

“This accomplishment wouldn’t have been possible without the guidance of my faculty mentor, Dr. Greg Shufeldt, the faculty and staff of the History and Political Science Department, and the Honors College,” said Vachon. “I’m incredibly grateful for their support.”
