Dr. Colleen Wynn, associate professor and director of the master’s in applied sociology program, received the 2025 John F. Schnabel Distinguished Contributions to Teaching Award at this year’s North Central Sociological Association (NCSA) annual meeting.
John F. Schnabel helped found the NCSA Teaching Committee and was the committee’s first chair. Through his leadership, the NCSA’s teaching program was expanded as the Association created more teaching sessions to help educators teach social work.
The John F. Schnabel Distinguished Contributions to Teaching Award was created to recognize an individual, department, program, or institution that shares innovative curriculum design and contributes to the teaching aspect of NCSA.
Dr. Wynn has been an active member of the NCSA since 2019 and has been a part of their Applied and Public Sociology Committee since 2021.
“I feel fortunate every day to be able to engage in the learning process with my students,” said Wynn. “To be recognized for this important work means so much to me, especially as NCSA is an organization with many excellent teachers among their ranks.”
