Jeanie Neal to Serve on Review Panel for Komen Research Grants

Jeanie M. Neal, Director of the Office of Grants & Sponsored Programs, has been invited to serve on a review panel for the next cycle of funding from Komen Career Catalyst (CCR) Grants. Neal is a two-time breast cancer survivor, first diagnosed over 20 years ago and most recently diagnosed with a local recurrence in April.  

From the Komen website, “Over more than a decade, Career Catalyst Research (CCR) Grants have fostered promising breast cancer researchers who are in the early stages of their faculty careers by providing support for up to three years of ‘protected time’ for research career development under the guidance of a Mentor Committee. It is expected that following the successful completion of a CCR Grant, awardees will launch independent research careers, successfully compete for subsequent research project funding, and emerge as key leaders in the fight against breast cancer.”

Neal has served as an advocate reviewer for the organization twice before through her participation in their Advocate in Science Program. She has also lent her perspective as a consumer reviewer on multiple panels for the U.S. Department of Defense’s Congressionally Directed Medical Research Programs, Breast Cancer Research Program. 

A Certified Research Administrator (CRA), Neal has been with UIndy for twelve years and has thirty years experience in writing, managing, and monitoring grants and sponsored projects.
