“Regarding my songs…”

Mezzo soprano Mitzi Westra and pianist Gregory Martin explore the range of Edvard Grieg’s vocal output, from the early Hans Christian Andersen settings inspired by his future wife and greatest interpreter (Nina, a lyric soprano), to his late crowning achievement Haugtussa, a cycle in nynorsk, the newly established language of a nation striving for independence.
