Dr. Megan Flinn Receives 2025 Distinguished Counselor Educator Award
By Ella Shelburn
Dr. Megan Flinn, assistant professor and practicum and internship coordinator for the Department of Counseling, received the 2025 Distinguished Counselor Educator Award at the Indiana Counseling Association’s (ICA) annual conference.
The ICA helps professional counselors improve upon their skills while also giving them the opportunity to connect with other Indiana counselors. The Association’s four main goals are continuing education, networking, mental health advocacy, and professional development. The Distinguished Counselor Educator Award is given to a counselor educator who contributes to growth in the profession, includes innovative practices in the classroom, and is involved in student development.
Dr. Flinn is grateful for her students, who made receiving this award possible, and she enjoys seeing their enthusiasm for learning in the classroom.
“What has been most delightful about receiving this award is knowing students nominated me,” said Dr. Flinn. “I don’t know exactly who, but the fact that they took that extra step is incredibly humbling. I see how hard they work in our program, and I’m deeply proud of how they carry classroom ideas into the counseling services they provide in the community. Their excitement and passion for counseling make teaching at UIndy very fun!”
