FACULTY ARTIST CONCERT SERIES Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra: La France Galante

Drawing of eighteenth-century French men

Indianapolis Baroque Orchestra: La France Galante

Adriane Post, the IBO’s concertmaster, leads the orchestra in a program effervescing with French charm and elegance.

First up is a suite from the 1697 opéra-ballet L’Europe galante by André Campra. That is followed by one of Michel Corrette‘s 25 “comic” concertos, from 1773, based on popular tunes of the day. Closing the afternoon’s orchestral pleasures is a suite from Jean-Philippe Rameau‘s opéra-ballet Les Indes galantes (1735).

Note that this concert is on a SUNDAY.
