This event has ended

Would you like to host a guest presenter from another discipline to enrich your class next semester? Would you like to visit another class to share your specialty? Here’s a way to set up a connection:

UIndy University-wide Interdisciplinary Faculty Mixer
A Business Professor visits a Nursing Class! A Musician Visits Physics Class!
The possibilities are endless!

Friday, April 12, 2024, 12–2PM in CDFAC lobby
Refreshments served!
Co-sponsored by UIndy Interdisciplinary Programs and the Music Department

WHAT and WHY: You are invited to a fun social event—a faculty mixer—but with a particular purpose:  faculty from across campus will gather to informally brainstorm class visits. Some of us will be at stations prepared with topics we can offer in a 30- to 60-minute, one-time visit to your class.  Others will attend to browse and imagine future visits they could either host or offer.

WHO: All UIndy faculty interested in interdisciplinary collaboration to enrich each other’s courses!

WHEN and WHERE: Friday, April 12, 2024, in Christel DeHaan Fine Arts Center lobby, open from 12–2PM

HOW: Stop by CDFAC 103 (Music Dept. office) or Esch 134 (Center for Service-Learning) starting on Tuesday 3/26 to pick up a free poster board if you’d like to make an informal display.  See example from John Berners—it can be very informal!

We hope you will have great fun attending in person, but if you can’t make it (or can’t stay for the entire 2 hours), you can still start a conversation by sending in (or bringing in written form) your ideas and interests for desired lectures and/or expertise you can share.  Music Dept. is hosting this event, but your connections do not have to involve us—it’s any department to any department!

Please join us!  You can meet an astronomer, a therapist, a poet, a historian, a philosopher, an engineer…Dedicated professors informally conversing about our work will make unexpected and great connections.  Courses will be enriched.  Worlds will be expanded.  Students inspired.  Please come and give it a try!
