Parking information for fall 2017 semester

As we begin the new academic year, there are a number of parking options available across the University. We appreciate your patience during the first few weeks of the semester when parking needs and traffic increase.

The University actively monitors and assesses the parking needs throughout the year, focusing on providing safe and accessible parking for students, employees and visitors including a shuttle service for additional parking during heavy traffic periods. The shuttle service is available 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Monday, Aug. 28, to Friday, Sept. 8. between the Bell Tower to the parking lot at Calvary Christian Church, 3639 S. Keystone Ave. (across National Avenue from Walmart).

Look for the Carey Transportation shuttle bus. After September 8th, usage of the shuttle will be evaluated in regard to extending the dates.

Each lot displays a sign indicating the permit designation illustrated by the enclosed map.

Additional parking spaces are available in the grassy lots at Shelby/Hanna and National/State locations.

Health Pavilion area parkingParking Windermere Street, one block south of Hanna Avenue. These spaces are reverse-angle parking (back into the spaces and park close to the curb). Oversized vehicles, such as trucks or SUVs, are encouraged to  explore other locations. A limited number of parking spaces are reserved at the Health Pavilion for patients using clinic resources.

You will will notice that during special events guest parking spaces will be designated by orange traffic cones.

Future parking plans

We continue to monitor parking and explore the expansion of parking options, including an area just south of Hanna Avenue. A request has been submitted to the City of Indianapolis to rezone an area of University-owned property to create an additional 84 parking spaces, which could be available by January 2018. Updated information on the project will be distributed to campus in the weeks ahead.

More information on parking can be found at http://www.uindy.edu/police-department/parking. For questions about parking please contact University Police at 317-788-3386 (Ext. 3386 from campus phones).

Best wishes for a safe and successful new academic year.
