Marc Milne receives Field Museum Visiting Scholar Grant
As a recipient of the Visiting Scholar Grant from The Field Museum in Chicago, Marc Milne, assistant professor of biology, visited the museum for a week in mid-March.
While at the museum, Milne examined small and rare sheet-web spiders in the museum’s collection. Some of these spiders possessed identification labels and some were never examined since deposited – in some cases, for over 70 years. Milne examined, re-identified, and wrote specimen labels for over 215 of these small sheet-web spiders. In the process, he and his colleagues uncovered several new distribution records for Indiana, Illinois and Florida. They also discovered multiple undescribed species that await description.
