UIndy hosts I-Light annual meeting
The University of Indianapolis hosted I-Light’s annual members’ meeting in May 2019, with more than 75 attendees. I-Light is a high-speed fiber optic network that connects members to state, national, and international research and education communities and serves as the University of Indianapolis’ internet service provider.
Steven R. Herriford, University of Indianapolis vice president and chief technology officer, made welcoming remarks. Topics included moving infrastructure to the cloud and multi-factor authentication.
About I-Light:
I-Light is a unique collaboration among Indiana colleges and universities, state
government, and private sector broadband providers.
Member sites connect to I-Light at speeds starting at 1 Gigabit to 10 Gigabits
per second. The I-Light team provides members with responsive, expert support
and can provide even larger, on-demand connections between research groups
when needed.
I-Light enables a variety of capabilities such as:

- Exchange of large data files
- Access to supercomputers and scientific data storage facilities
- Multi-campus collaborative research projects
- High-definition learning tools such as telepresence
