Bellew & Cayot published in Journal of Physiotherapy and Practice
Dr. Jim Bellew, professor of physical therapy, and Dr. Trent Cayot, assistant professor of kinesiology, health, and sport sciences, recently published an article in the Journal of Physiotherapy Theory and Practice. Working with a group of Doctor of Physical Therapy students, Bellew and Cayot conducted a study to compare elicited force and muscle metabolic demand during electrically elicited contractions using different neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES) waveforms. The resulting article, “Changes in microvascular oxygenation and total hemoglobin concentration of the vastus lateralis during neuromuscular electrical stimulation (NMES),” was published online in August 2019. Print publication is forthcoming.
