UIndy occupational therapy faculty attend inaugural Ukraine conference
On October 4-5 2019, UIndy faculty members Drs. Brenda Howard, DHSc, OTR, Rebecca Barton, DHS, OTR, FAOTA, and Jennifer Fogo, PhD, OTR joined UIndy alumna Olya Mangusheva, MOT, OTR in Kiev, Ukraine for the First International Conference on Occupational Therapy in Ukraine. Olya is the driving force behind the nascent Ukrainian Society of Ergotherapy (occupational therapy) and has collaborated with the National University of Ukraine on Physical Education and Sport, where the conference was held. Occupational therapists from all over the world presented to over 400 participants on topics such as pediatrics, geriatrics, neurological recovery, and educational programming. It was a privilege and honor to represent UIndy and the profession of occupational therapy as we witnessed the birth of the profession in an emerging nation!
