Reflector Staff Win Regional Awards

Students of The Reflector won five regional-level journalism awards in the Society of Professional Journalists (SPJ) Mark of Excellence competition.  

Region 5 includes colleges and universities in the states of Indiana, Illinois and Kentucky.  Entries were judged by media professionals, and the awards were announced on April 9.  

The winners in each category will go on to compete at the national level among other regional MOE winners from the 12 SPJ regions. 

The following students received awards:

The Reflector Staff, Corbin Gwaltney Award for Best All-Around Student Newspaper, Winner

Jacob Walton, Best Photo Illustration, Finalist, for “Gamer’s Club,”  

Kiara Conley  Best Photo Illustration, Finalist, for “Food Pantry,” 

Jacob Walton, Best Sports Photography, Finalist, for “Men’s Soccer Celebrates Winning NCAA Regional”
