Making Global Gains: UIndy Ranks in Top 18% for International Students
The University of Indianapolis is in the top 18 percent of higher institutions with the latest release of the World University Rankings by StudyAbroadAide. The rankings reflect UIndy’s commitment to academic excellence as well as rising appeal to international students.
StudyAbroadAide, an organization focused on connecting international students with universities abroad by informing them about higher education choices outside their home countries, ranks every accredited university in the world based on international population at the university, overall academic reputation and other important factors to determine their appeal to international students.
The second edition of the World University Rankings for International Students placed UIndy at No. 1,461, the top 18 percent of 8,526 other ranked colleges and universities worldwide. UIndy increased 912 places over last year’s rankings, an increase of 12 percentage points.
The increase in ranking was due to the University’s overall increase in academic prestige for all students and the UIndy International Program and Center for Global Engagment’s diligent support of international students and other factors. The UIndy International Program offers many services to support international students during their time on campus. International students are eligible for many forms of financial aid. In addition, English as a Second Language (ESL) services provide an opportunity to learn English while studying. The University hosts several events to celebrate international diversity on campus such as the annual World Fest and Celebration of the Flags.
“We are excited that StudyAbroadAide recognizes our commitment and connection with international students,” said Dr. Rebecca Gilliland, associate provost who oversees UIndy’s Christel DeHann Center for Global Engagement. “We are dedicated to providing not just a top-flight education but an immersive cultural experience to ensure the success of our international scholars who choose the University of Indianapolis as their temporary home away from home.”
In addition to opportunities for international students to study in the United States, UIndy offers opportunities for current students to travel and explore other cultures through several diverse study abroad programs.
