Dr. Lawrence Sondhaus, Director of the Graduate Program in History and Professor of History at the University of Indianapolis, presents a book lecture in Schwitzer Student Center, UIndy Hall A, Wednesday, January 21 at 7 p.m. ET. Authoring Pastor Martin Niemöller, Admiral Karl Dönitz, and the German Experience of the 20th Century, will read from and discuss his latest book release.
Niemöller, leader of the Christian resistance against the Nazis, and Dönitz, commander of Hitler’s navy (and, in 1945, his successor for the last days of World War II), maintained a lifelong connection despite their very different experiences under the Third Reich. This book is a study of human relationships over the course of Germany’s tumultuous twentieth century, and of the enduring power of friendships forged in youth and young adulthood.
For UIndy students, this is LP credit approved.
