Musical Migration — Folk, Jazz, Classical?
Presenting outstanding composers who brought their own heritage, combined with American traditions, to create exquisite chamber works: Frenchman Darius Milhaud who taught jazz legend Dave Brubeck; Argentinian Astor Piazzola, master of the tango; the Czech Antonin Dvořák who declared American music must be founded upon Negro melodies; and millennial composer Reena Esmail, born in Chicago, yet deeply connected to her ancestral land India.
