A new spring term course, “Discovering Modern China,” invites students to engage with Chinese culture, education, non-governmental organizations and business for a comprehensive intercultural exchange. The trip, planned for May 7-25, 2018, includes stops in Shanghai, Ningbo, Shaoxing and Beijing, including University of Indianapolis partner institutions in China. Interact with Chinese university and high school students, talk to staff of local NGOs and meet some of the driving forces behind China’s economy, from young professionals at a career development startup to organic farmers. Get valuable international experience while learning about China’s rich heritage, including a Shanghai city tour, a visit to Beijing’s Central Business District and a trip to the Great Wall.
