“Engineering Among the Arts & Sciences” is the theme for the Third Annual Wisdom’s Feast celebration hosted by the Shaheen College of Arts & Sciences. The event, which is open to University of Indianapolis faculty and staff, takes place 5:30 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 15, 2019, on the lawn between Martin and Lilly Halls.

This year’s Wisdom’s Feast, which includes a Kansas City-style barbecue, will feature a festival atmosphere with trivia questions that test your ability to think like an engineer. Shaheen College of Arts & Sciences faculty will provide presentations to explore questions surrounding the relationship between engineering, arts and sciences; and the most relevant similarities and differences for how we teach and learn.

“This year’s edition of Wisdom’s Feast promises to be fascinating,” said Michael Cartwright, vice president of University mission. “I am excited to see what happens as colleagues from the Shaheen College of Arts & Sciences engage one another in conversation.  We will explore what it means to have an engineering faculty teaching alongside faculty from the humanities and the arts as well as social sciences and natural sciences. No doubt we will discover some things about ourselves that will be surprising. And that is precisely what one would expect from the Shaheen College!”

Presenting faculty include Nathan Foley, assistant professor of art & design; Najmus Saqib, assistant professor of engineering; Kathleen Hacker, professor of music; David Olawale, assistant professor of engineering; and Stephen Spicklemire, chair of physics & earth-space science and associate professor of physics; with concluding comments by Debra Feakes, Shaheen College of Arts & Sciences dean.
